Ineos Grenadier review

What’s going on legends. Today we are looking at the Landro.. I mean Ineos Grenadier.

It’s the brain child of the owner of a Chemical Company who obviously has too much time and money on his hands. Like all good ideas, this one was born after ten scooners (or pints as the Pommies call them) at a Pub they ended up naming the project after.

It’s a lot more romantic than if it was conceived at somewhere like the Rooty Hill RSL. The only business ideas that are normally cooked up there are when and where to conduct an armed robbery.

BODY

Lets be honest. This looks more like a Defender than a new Defender does. Which is unfortunate for Land Rover because it looks a hell of a lot better than what they are offering at the moment. When everyone else is turning their Luxobarges into obese walruses, Ineos has gone for a more retro, ‘rustic’ look, much like the best car in the world, the GQ Patrol

SUSPENSION

Speaking of GQ Patrols, After spending literally millions on development , they have decided to run with a setup that looks a lot like it came from a 1990s shitbox. Funny that, who would have thought that coils and a solid axle would provide excellent offroad ability, and the reliability of not munting a CV or Tie Rod every time you point it at an obstacle. They coulda saved themselves some dosh and just put it on a GQ chassis and thrown the Superior catalogue at it. Would have got a free sticker and some insta clout out of it, too.

ENGINE

You’d think with a name like The Grenadier it would be running a ZD30, thankfully that’s not the case and it will come equipped with one of two BMW 3.0Lt six’s

Options are either a 3.0-litre ‘B58’ turbo straight six petrol with 210kW and 450Nm, or a 3.0-litre ‘B57’ twin-turbo straight six diesel with 183kW and 550Nm. Anyone who knows anything about BMW straight 6 motors is aware how reliable and powerful these things are. Hopefully that’s continued in The Grenadier.

We can’t wait to get our hands on one of these for a test drive. As the voice of 4wd for the nation, as described by Robert Pepper- Automotive Journalist, surely we will get enough credibility to cop an invite soon.
