Tech Talk – GME XRS-390C

Comms are important,

not just for safety, but mostly for talking shit to each other in convoys and pissing off truck drivers. After all, where would we be if we couldn’t make the ‘I won’t give you a tow but I’ll give you a blowjob’ joke over and over.

The XRS 390C is the top of the line fixed model radio from GME. It has a heap of cool features that I will influence you on now.

Features

Remember driving through Newcastle and hearing the absolute freak on the radio, but not knowing where the transmission was coming from? Well with the XRS 390C this is no longer a problem. If the weird cunt saying he wants to eat your ass has an XRS too, meeting up just got a lot easier.

This is because the 390C has a GPS receiver in the mic. Every time you transmit, your location will be shown to other XRS users on the same channel by aid of a compass bearing and distance, so you can keep track of where that freak (or other members in your travelling group) are.

The App

GME have developed and associated App for the XRS.

This has a heap of handy features. It can show visually where members of your party are on the included maps. If you like you can also set your status for others to see eg: mine is always set to ‘overheating’ or ‘lost’

The App has ability to perform firmware updates. GME have promised more updates in the future, so we at Cowboy Tuned have our fingers crossed for the ability to play Pornhub on the Mic display and for it to be linked to Facebook Market Place for accurate location of those shitbox bargains.

Tech

With the current geopolitical climate it’s a good thing that the XRS is Mil Spec (Military Spec) rated. When we inevitably go to war with China and you get a 50 cal strapped into the tub of your 79, you won’t have any worries of the radio failing due to the vibrations from the belt fed machine gun or incoming mortar fire.

Both the Mic and the Unit are IP67 rated for dust and water ingress. The radio can spend 30 mins under water at a depth of 1m, which is about the same time I spend looking for a lure I’ve snagged. Ranger owners will be able to snort lines off it without having to worry about the powder making its way into the mic and wrecking it.

Radio Daddy explaining it in a less problematic way:

As usual GME are leading the way with innovation and tech. All in all we think the the XRS-390C is the best radio on Planet Earth and it’s definitely not just because we got a free one.
